After the storm

After an afternoon of torrential downpour akin to a monsoon, evening yielded to calm weather and clear skies.

We looked west and saw the golden sun in its final hour. We looked east and decided to turn off the stove and run out into the streets.

A rainbow neatly sprawls across the sky over Grace Episcopal Church after the storm.

The rainbow appeared to stretch from Hart Island to Eastchester Bay. This couple took a break from dining to soak in the majestic view.

As the rainbow slowly faded into the horizon, the sun set over Manhattan Island, leaving a carpet of reds, purples and midnight blues in its wake.

To quote Mel Allen, How 'bout that!
